Coach Riley Grandinetti just completed his fifth season as Head Coach at Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC), capping off the 2024–2025 season with the most successful year in program history. Under his leadership, the Lakers reached the NWAC Final Four for the first time since 2008 and advanced to the NWAC Championship game for the first time ever. During the 2022–2023 season, he guided the team to a 19-12 record and a second-place finish in the South Region. That year also marked SWOCC's first NWAC Tournament appearance since 2013–2014, where they advanced to the Elite Eight.
Before taking over as Head Coach, Grandinetti served as Associate Head Coach under longtime SWOCC leader Trevor Hoppe for five years. He originally returned to the program in 2015 as an Assistant Coach after wrapping up his collegiate playing career.
Coach Riley Grandinetti is originally from Salt Lake City, Utah, where he played high school basketball at Murray High School. He began his college playing career at SWOCC from 2011–2013, serving as the starting point guard on back-to-back NWAC Championship Tournament teams. As a sophomore, he earned First Team All-Southern Region honors, was named to the NWAC All-Academic Team, and was selected to play in the NWAC All-Star Game. That same year, he was awarded the prestigious Bill Holmes Award as SWOCC’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year.
After his time at SWOCC, Coach Grandinetti transferred to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he was a two-year starter and team captain. He helped lead the Boxers to over 30 wins during his two seasons with the program.
Coach Grandinetti holds an A.A. degree from SWOCC, a B.A. in Business from Pacific University, and an M.A. in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, California. In 2020, he completed a second master’s degree in Teaching from Eastern Oregon University. He is currently continuing his education at George Fox University, working toward his Administrative License.
Outside of coaching, Grandinetti serves as the Dean of Students at North Bend Middle School and remains active in youth development, directing SWOCC’s basketball camps each summer
