Riley Grandinetti

Coach Riley Grandinetti recently completed his sixth season as Head Coach at Southwestern Oregon Community College (SWOCC) and has helped guide the Lakers through one of the most successful stretches in program history.

During the 2025–2026 season, SWOCC finished with a 24–7 record and Grandinetti was named NWAC South Conference Coach of the Year. The Lakers also had their first South Conference Player of the Year under his leadership as Connor Wilson earned the honor.

The previous season marked a historic year for the program. In 2024–2025, the Lakers reached the NWAC Final Four for the first time since 2008 and advanced to the NWAC Championship game for the first time in school history.

Before being named head coach, Grandinetti spent five seasons as Associate Head Coach under longtime SWOCC head coach Trevor Hoppe. He originally returned to the program in 2015 as an assistant coach after completing his collegiate playing career.

A native of Salt Lake City, Utah, Grandinetti played high school basketball at Murray High School before beginning his college career at SWOCC from 2011–2013. He served as the starting point guard on back-to-back NWAC Championship Tournament teams and earned First Team All-Southern Region honors as a sophomore. He was also named to the NWAC All-Academic Team, selected to the NWAC All-Star Game and received the Bill Holmes Award as SWOCC’s Male Student-Athlete of the Year.

Grandinetti later transferred to Pacific University in Forest Grove, Oregon, where he was a two-year starter and team captain for the Boxers.

He holds an A.A. degree from SWOCC, a B.A. in Business from Pacific University, and an M.A. in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, California. In 2020, he completed a second master’s degree in Teaching from Eastern Oregon University and is currently pursuing his Administrative License at George Fox University.

Outside of coaching, Grandinetti serves as the Dean of Students at North Bend Middle School and directs SWOCC’s youth basketball camps each summer.
