Kalyn Paque was the pitcher of the year in the Southern Region a year ago for the Laker Softball team, but this year she is helping the HSU Lumberjacks chase down a National Championship. Paque drove in a run and scored a run as part of a 5 run 5th inning yesterday in the second game of the NCAA Division II National Championship Tournament in Denver, CO. Paque has helped the Lumberjacks to a 52-5-1 overall record this season while batting .276. She is also 5-0 as a starting pitcher, but spends most of her time at first base on defense. Paque transferred to HSU after competing for the Lakers, but is originally from Reno, NV where she was a State Tournament MVP and State Champion. The Lumberjacks have won 7 straight games including a West Region title and will face #16 ranked Armstrong State at 4pm later today. If the Lumberjacks win today they will be just 2 wins away winning another National Championship. You can follow the game live on www.hsulumberjacks.com
