The Laker softball team dropped 2 games at Mt. Hood last weekend, but picked up 2 wins yesterday at home against visiting Chemeketa CC. The Lakers improved to 27-12 on the season and have won 7 of their last 10 games. Shevan DeFreitas (FR/Waipahu, HI) picked up the win in game 1 with a final score of 10-1, Tayler Finch (FR/Yelm, WA) and Tayler Moss (FR/Manteca, CA) both had 3 RBI’s. In game 2 the Lakers won 10-2 in 5 innings behind the winning pitcher Lauren Spencer on the mound. Ereanna Higbee (SO/Winnemucca, NV) led the Lakers with her 6th home run of the season and 4 RBI’s. The Lakers will wrap up their conference season this Friday with a home double header against visiting Clackamas CC on sophomore day. Fridays first game is scheduled to start at 2 pm where the sophomores will be honored for their achievements. The Lakers will then be off to the NWAC championships the following weekend. This will the teams 8th straight post season appearance in Coach Corriea’s time as head coach, the team has only missed the playoffs once during her first season in charge. The Laker’s are currently ranked 5th in the NWAC RPI, but could move up with a win this Friday against Clackamas.
