On the field yesterday the Laker Softball (24-10) team swept Clark College (13-17) 12-2 and 8-0. Shevan DeFreitas (FR/Waipahu, HI) recorded her 20th home run of the year in the bottom of the first inning of game 1 and the Lakers didn’t look back. Game 1 ended with a 3 run homerun by Bobbi Bertsch (FR/Vancouver, WA) in the bottom of the 5th inning which put the Lakers up by 10 and consequently ended the game by the run rule. The Lakers hot bats continued in game 2 with 5 runs in the bottom of the first inning and 3 Lakers recorded 2 RBI’s during the game. Lauren Spencer (FR/Tacoma, WA) recorded wins in both the games and her 11th win of the season. The Lakers travel to Lower Columbia on Wednesday and Mt. Hood next Saturday.
The Laker baseball team dropped a doubleheader to Lane CC on Saturday, 4-11 and 2-8. In game 1 four different players recorded the RBI’s and in game 2 the Lakers mounted a comeback in the bottom of the 6th inning when they scored both of their runs, but it wasn’t enough in the end. The Lakers head to Lane today to complete their 4 game season series. Game 1 first pitch is set for 1 pm. The Lakers will then head to Linn Benton CC next weekend for a 4 game series.
