Four All Americans, a College Record, and Many Personal Records
Our Lakers competed Monday and Tuesday at Mount Hood Community College. Highlights start with double All Americans Bryan Terry (3rd in Shot Put at 14.08m and 3rd in Discus with 42.49m, 2 of his 3 PRs) and Kuda Murasiranwa (2nd in 100m and 2nd in 200m). Kuda broke his own college record in the 100 meters final at 10.63 and set a PR in the 200m with 21.60.
Repeat All American Bryan Hunt beat Kuda’s time in the semi-final then finished third in the final with a PR of 10.83. SWOCC finished fifth in the 400 relay with 42.70 running Angel Moreno, Kuda, Carter Rudisill and Bryan. In the 1600 relay, Angel, Clinton Omandi, Christian Ambrogio, and Kuda took sixth with 3:28.53. Lamont Klepper was 10th in 3K Steeplechase at 11:31 and 12th in the 1,500 at 4:43.50.
For the Laker Women’s 1600 relay, Lillian Weatherman, Ryleigh Cobb, Presley LeBlanc and Alex Lofthouse finished in 4:16.30. Lillian took 7th in the 400m with a PR of 1:05.07. Then, she ran a 200m PR of 27.90. Ryleigh ran the best 200m of her life as well at 28.61. Presley was fifth in the 200m at 26.29 matching her PR from 2017, Alex was seventh in the 200m with a PR of 26.48, and eighth in the 100m at 12.96, again, a match of her best time.
In field events, Christian tied for 12th in Triple Jump going over 40 feet. Bryan Hunt jumped over 21 in Long Jump. Alongside Bryan Terry’s third in Shot, Dylan Jennings also had a good day near his best taking 11th at 11.24m. Erick Zamora Ajtun took 13th with 10.87. Dylan set a PR in Discus though at 32.67. In Hammer, Bryan was 5th at 45.10 his 3rd PR of the meet.
All American Kia Collins finished third in Discus with a PR of 34.71m on her final throw, fourth in Hammer with a PR of 36.59m, and near her best in Shot. Destiny Martinez was 11th in Discus at 26.78m and 12th in the Hammer with 22.88m.
